Getting your kids involved in cooking and baking with you in the kitchen helps, to create life long memories together that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Resurrection Rolls, also known as Empty Tomb Rolls, are a unique and symbolic recipe that tells the story of Jesus' resurrection in a delicious and memorable way. This recipe has been cherished by many families, particularly during the Easter season, as it provides an interactive and tangible way to teach children and adults alike about the significance of this important event in Christian faith.

The story begins with the ingredients: crescent roll dough, marshmallows, melted butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Each ingredient holds its own symbolic meaning, which will be unveiled as the recipe unfolds.

First, the crescent roll dough represents the burial cloths in which Jesus was wrapped after his crucifixion. The dough is rolled out and flattened, symbolizing the preparation of Jesus' body for burial. This step serves as a reminder of the solemnity and gravity of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

Next, the marshmallow comes into play, representing Jesus' body. The marshmallow is coated with melted butter, signifying the anointing of Jesus' body with oils and spices before burial. This step reinforces the belief in Jesus' humanity and the physical reality of his death.

As the marshmallow is rolled in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, it represents the spices used to prepare Jesus' body for burial. This step emphasizes the care and reverence with which Jesus' body was treated by his followers.

Now comes the most crucial part of the recipe: wrapping the marshmallow in the crescent roll dough. This step symbolizes Jesus' burial in the tomb. The marshmallow, representing Jesus' body, is enveloped by the dough, just as Jesus' body was laid to rest in the tomb after his crucifixion.

Once all the marshmallows are wrapped in the dough, the rolls are placed in the oven to bake. As they bake, something miraculous happens—the marshmallows disappear, leaving behind empty spaces in the rolls. This is where the true symbolism of the recipe shines through.

The empty spaces inside the rolls represent the empty tomb discovered by Mary Magdalene and the other women on the morning of the resurrection. Just as Jesus' tomb was found empty, so too are the Resurrection Rolls. This powerful visual demonstration reinforces the central tenet of the Christian faith—the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

When the rolls are finally done baking, they are golden brown and filled with a sweet surprise—the melted marshmallow filling. This represents the joy and celebration that followed the discovery of the empty tomb. Just as the Resurrection Rolls are a delightful treat for the senses, so too is the resurrection of Jesus a cause for rejoicing and exultation.
