Ok mama, here is how I put them together. I love these sheet pans, if you need new set you can grab them here
Ingredients: Italian Chicken Sandwich
- 1 1/2 lbs chicken
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp garlic power
- 1/2 tbsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 6 hoagie buns
- 8 oz marinara
- 6 provolone cheese
Optional Toppings
- banana peppers or pepperoncini
- roasted red pepper
- black olives
- aritchokes
Instructions: Italian Chicken Sandwich
- Preheat oven to 350
- 3 chicken breasts: sliced then to make 6 thin breasts
- mix all seasonings well together in a bowl
- coat chicken with olive oil and seasonings
- Grill your chicken or pan fry in skillet until done reaching internal temp of 165
- Slice Chicken into chunks or strips
Line sheet pan with parchment paper and add hoagies to sheet pan.
- Slice the top of the hoagies so you can add meat and sauce. You can cut them half way too but I prefer to keep the hoagie in tact and stuff it full. I think it is easier to eat this way.
- Once hoagies are sliced on top, you will want to stuff full with chicken and top with marinara, cheese and then any toppings you desire.
The beauty of these Italian Chicken Sandwiches is you can fill them with extras or leave plain.
Optional Toppings
Add your desired toppings prior to baking.
Bake uncovered loaded hoagies in oven at 350 for about 10 minutes just until cheese melts.
Now its time to dig in!
Crazy Busy Mama Side:
A great side dish to this recipe is homemade fries, raw veggies with dipping sauce or potato chips. Or even this incredible Kale Pasta Salad would be a great healthy addition.
Crazy Busy Mama Tip:
Planning out dinners? Make these grilled chicken breasts ahead and place them in an airtight container for Italian Chicken Sandwich night. However, please note: If using left over grilled chicken you will want to make sure to heat up chicken in a skillet along with marinara sauce to make sure it is warm enough prior to putting in hoagie and toasting it with cheese and toppings. The toasting in oven is just to melt cheese and add a toasty crunch to the hoagie not to cook the chicken.
Crazy Busy Mama Variation:
Looking to keep it low carb, ditch the hoagie and try the chicken with melted provolone and marinara in a bowl. Anyway you enjoy this dish, it is delicious.
