French Onion Casserole

Growing up, our family wasn't perfect in the least but my mom always made it a priority to have dinner at the table for my dad and us kids when he got home from work. And because of that one small act, it has impacted me now as adult to do that same with my family. The whole world could have been falling apart, but this one small act – well it just felt good and I wanted to immolate that for my family too. I realize life looks so differently now than the 90's, but I do believe we can pause our schedule if even for a moment to sit and enjoy a meal together.

Time flies by and before you know it they are flying the nest. Trust me mama, these are the times. Make the time in your hectic to set and have meal time together as a family.

Life is so busy, I get it! So I am incredibly grateful for quick easy recipes like this one that helps us to push that pause button to reclaim the table sit down and enjoy a meal together.

Here is how I put this yummy French Onion Casserole together.

Ingredients: French Onion Casserole

  • 1 -1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 16 oz egg noodles
  • 1/4 tsp french onion Kinders Seasoning – you can also substitute with salt and pepper
  • 20 oz cream of mushroom
  • 15 oz french onion dip
  • 1/2 cup fried onions
  • parsley fresh or dried – optional

Instructions: French Onion Casserole

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Spray 9×13 dish with non stick spray
  • Cook Egg Noodles in large pot of water according to package directions.

Meanwhile, cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium high heat until no longer pink.

Season with Kinders French Onion seasoning (or salt and pepper). Once ground beef is cooked make sure to drain the grease or use paper towels to soak up the grease and throw it away, like I show in video Grab yourself a meat masher here

Add both soups and french onion dip to ground beef in skillet. Stir together until combined well.

Once egg noodles are done, strain them and add them to the large skillet with the beef mixture.

Once mixed well, place mixture into a 9X13 with non stick spray pan.

Sprinkle with parsley if desired, fresh or dried.

Sprinkle fried onions evenly over the top

Bake uncovered for 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

Serve warm! And here is it plated with a side salad and fresh fruit.

Side ideas: Side salad and fresh fruit like we did or you could also do green beans and a dinner roll.

Crazy Busy Mama Tip:

You can easily substitute chicken for beef if you prefer. You can even use a rotisserie chicken to make this super easy to throw together on those crazy busy nights.

Busy week ahead, make this even quicker by preparing this ahead of time. Cover casserole dish in a refrigerator for 3-4 days before and reserve the french onions until you bake. You will just need to adjust the bake time to 350 for 45-50 mins and cover for the first 30 of those minutes.

So many of us mamas struggle with dinner time. From the planning to the shopping to the cooking, and it can be so overwhelming but it doesn’t have to be! If you struggle, I want to help you find the joy in dinner time again.
