Do you have a favorite recipe that you remember as a kid that just brings back all sorts of fond memories? This could be an easy simple side dish or even a main course. This is a recipe that brings all sorts of amazing memories flooding back to when my kids were babies. I didn't grow up on this easy side dish, but being introduced to it in my twenties still reminds me of great memories of having dinner with friends and family enjoying delicious foods and good converstaion!

This dish is a variation of the dish our neighbor fed us when my kids were babies! Both sides of grand parents were not local to us so she and her husband were like adopted grandparents to our 4 kids. She would invite us over for dinner weekly and this easy side dish was a comfort food staple. Just loved her so much, whether she knows it or not she taught me a lot I know today about cooking and the importance of butter and the flavor it brings 😉 So most appropriately, you will see a pad of butter on top in the image below. I mean doens't butter make all things better? Especially, when it comes to home cookin' comfort southern style food?

This is hands down, a perfect side dish to any dinner or you can make it a complete meal by adding even more protein, like smoked sausage or even steak bites. Wouldn't that be incredible? Either way this dish is absolutely delicious!! Hope you try it & love it too! 💕

And I love to serve it up in my heart dutch oven! I have had this one for a few years and every time I use it makes me smile, its so cute & practical!

I have a few linked HERE for you in case you are looking for one too!
