Brokenness…I am sure we can all relate to feeling broken and if you are anything like me, I do my best to try to fix my brokenness but I am always falling short. I thought I knew brokenness all too well in my wrong doings and decisions in life and even tragedies that I personally encountered, but I have never experienced a brokenness quite like I am walking through now. Grief is an unexplainable brokenness. This coffee chat as a pre-story to the story…
I don't know if you fell on my Crazy Busy Mama blog because you are struggling with grief too, or just happened on this blog post because of my Crazy Busy Mama recipes blog, but either way I am glad you are here. I am knew to this grief struggle, as I lost my sweet husband unexpectedly on April 9th 2024. That day marks the day my entire world came crashing down.
If you are new to this section of the Blog here is Quintin's Story and the events surrounding his sudden and unexpected death.
Pre story: 💔About 4 months ago Quintin woke up all excited
💔About 4 months ago Quintin woke up all excited and said you should talk about the tree in your coffee story this morning… Tree I said?? He said yes, and then quickly reminded me of our discussion about the broken tree in the front yard that he pulled together with a ratchet he thought it would die by now but despite the brokenness it grew around the scar. He said babe that is people! Often times we think we are too broken, but God has other plans. Little did we know a month later the plan for my life 🥹😢💔❤️
The Unfolding Story
Little did we know we would lose him just one short month later … so I believe it was no coincidence but rather a GodWink or a Q-incidence if you will of God speaking through my husband to prepare me for this day and to give me encouragement through my brokenness.
Check out this tree friends, to our surprise it actually worked and it grew back together. I hear ya loud and clear Q! Just like the tree no one thought it was possible, maybe that will be me too.
Friend, one thing I know for certain is that no one makes it through life without scars. Scripture even says, it will rain on the just and the unjust.
That ye may be the children of your father that is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to arise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and unjust. Matthew 5:45
Jesus points out here that rain, difficult situations and trials, will fall on those who are good (just) and bad (unjust) but one thing we are certain of in Hebrews is:
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5
and You can trust that He will turn ashes into something beautiful.
“Beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified” Isaiah 61:3
Beauty from Ashes…
Have you ever felt this way? Like all hope is lost? You are too broken to be put back together? My hope to is to help those who are also struggling with grief or hard stuff in life and help point them in the direction for true healing and hope. I am in no way a master at this grief thing, but I do know when I am at my low points these are little reminders of scripture help so much.
God was preparing me in so many ways by prompting me to wake up and share my heart with you all each morning for the last 7 years and giving Quintin that word just a month before his passing, so it would help me heal and share His story. Don’t underestimate what God is doing to help prepare a way for you my friend.
Let this be your reminder that you are never too far gone my friend for God to turn your brokenness into something beautiful, ashes into beauty, your mess into His message. Hold to His promise, that God will redeem your story!
After all, if His eye is on the sparrow then He is certainly is making a way for you.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26
So I cling to these verses in those times of difficulty and recite them daily.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalm 34:18
Come to me who are weary and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5
“Beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified” Isaiah 61:3
Even though your circumstances have you not feeling it, Trust that He has you friend.
