Crockpot Method (My Favorite)

The crockpot is my favorite way to make BBQ Smoked Sausage because it's almost completely hands-off.

Slice the smoked sausage into ½-inch rounds.

Place the sausage into the crockpot.

Pour in the barbecue sauce.

Add the brown sugar.

Stir everything together.

The mixture will seem very thick at first—that's exactly what you want.

Cover and cook:

  • LOW for 4 hours
  • HIGH for 2 hours

Before serving, give everything one final stir.

The sauce will be perfectly thick and delicious.

BBQ Smoked Sausage: SIDE IDEA

What Makes BBQ Smoked Sausage So Good?

The secret to this BBQ Smoked Sausage is the sauce.

At first, the mixture looks incredibly thick, and you may even think you need more liquid.

Don't.

As the sausage cooks, it releases juices into the sauce, while the brown sugar melts into the barbecue sauce to create a thick, glossy glaze that's sweet, smoky, and absolutely irresistible.

Every slice of smoked sausage becomes coated in that sticky barbecue goodness.

It's simple comfort food at its best.

Crazy Busy Mama Tip

For even more flavor, use your favorite smoky or honey barbecue sauce, and let the BBQ Smoked Sausage stay on the “Warm” setting in your slow cooker for an extra 30 minutes before serving. The sauce thickens beautifully, making every bite extra sticky and delicious.
