Twinkie Hot Dogs: The Cutest Patriotic Dessert for Summer Parties

If there's one thing I love, it's a recipe that makes people laugh before they even take their first bite.

That's exactly what happened the first time I served these Twinkie Hot Dogs. Everyone walked up to the dessert table thinking they were looking at tiny hot dogs… and then realized they were actually Twinkies stuffed with Twix bars! Needless to say, they disappeared almost as fast as I set them out.

These Twinkie Hot Dogs are one of the easiest patriotic desserts you'll ever make. They require just three simple ingredients, take less than 10 minutes to assemble, and are guaranteed to be the most talked-about dessert at your next BBQ, Fourth of July party, Memorial Day cookout, or summer gathering.

Around here, I love recipes that are fun, easy, and create memories—and this one checks every box.

How to Make Twinkie Hot Dogs

1. Slice the Twinkies

Using a small knife, carefully slice each Twinkie lengthwise down the center.

Be sure not to cut all the way through—you want it to stay connected like a hot dog bun.

2. Add the Twix

Place one Twix bar inside each sliced Twinkie.

Instant hot dog!

3. Add the “ketchup”

Using red decorating icing, pipe a zigzag across the top of the Twix.

It's amazing how realistic these Twinkie Hot Dogs look with just this one simple step.

4. Serve

Arrange them on a white serving platter and enjoy immediately.

If you'd like the icing to firm up a bit, refrigerate them for about 10–15 minutes before serving.
