- 1 packet brown gravy mixprepared according to package directions, OR prepared brown gravy
- 2 tbsp steak sauce or freshunused steak marinade
Instructions
Prepare the puff pastry.
Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry package directions. Cut the thawed puff pastry into evenly sized squares.
Shape the pastry pockets.
Fold each square in half, creating a small pocket. Press the edges together with a fork, leaving a small opening where the Brie can be added later.
Add the egg wash.
Arrange the pastry pockets on a parchment-lined baking sheet and lightly brush the tops with beaten egg.
Bake the pastry.
Bake according to the package directions until puffed and lightly golden brown.
Add the Brie.
Carefully open each pastry pocket and place a small piece of Brie inside. Return to the oven until the Brie is soft and melted. The white rind is edible and can be left on.
Prepare the steakhouse gravy.
Make the brown gravy according to the package directions. Stir in 2 tablespoons of steak sauce or fresh, unused steak marinade. Keep warm.
Sauté the onions.
Prepare frozen sautéed onions according to package directions, or cook fresh sliced onions in butter or oil over medium-low heat until soft, golden, and caramelized.
Cook the steak.
Marinate the steak according to your marinade's instructions. Cook in a hot skillet or on the grill to your preferred doneness. Allow the steak to rest for several minutes before cutting into small, bite-sized pieces.
Assemble the bites.
Top each Brie-filled pastry with sautéed onions and a bite-sized piece of steak.
Add the finishing touches.
Drizzle with warm steakhouse gravy and sprinkle with dried parsley, if desired. Serve immediately while warm!
